You also register for Day-use at Meany Lodge.  This lesson is an add-on to the day use, and assumes you'll be up at Meany Lodge.

We will meet at 10 am and 2 pm at the tow hut. We may ask you to do a practice bit of skiing down the lower part of the hill, so that we can assign you to the appropriate class and instructor.

Getting to meany Lodge

We will meet at 8:15am in the overnight parking area of the Crystal Spring Sno-Park.  The Meany Lodge snowcat “Tom Cat” will do one pick-up from the parking lot and bring you and your ski gear up to Meany Lodge to the slopes.  It will also return guests to parking lot around 4:30pm.  Space to ride inside TomCat will be limited, so most people are expected to tow in.  Get your ski boots on and your skis handy after parking. Please bring only what you can carry as this is day-use only this year.  We will have a place for you to hang your backpack on the ski hill.  Don’t forget that Your car will need a State Sno-Park Permit.  Be ready to spend the day outside, with appropriate layers of clothing.

Improve your downhill ski skills without long lift lines in a very small and friendly group setting.

Our instructors can coach you through the basics of downhill skiing up through skiing challenging slopes and snow conditions.  We do not have a snowboard instructor in 2021.

This lesson is an add-on that requires you are already registered for day-use at Meany Lodge for the same day as your lesson.  Please see the Meany Lodge Calendar to register for day-use.

Ski Lessons notes

We will meet at 10 am and 2 pm at the tow hut. We may ask you to do a practice bit of skiing down the lower part of the hill, so that we can assign you to the appropriate class and instructor.

We still offer beginner classes, but due to COVID safety regulations we need to keep social distancing between instructors and students, so at a minimum, students need to be able to put on their own skis, be able to stand up by themselves with skis on, and can glide to a stop by themselves.  We will be happy to improve on your skills from there.

No drop-in classes available this year.

Prerequisites:  Open to all members and non-members.  Students should be able to to stand up by themselves with skis on, and can glide to a stop by themselves.

COVID notes

Food: The Meany Lodge will be serving a simple hot soup in outdoor shelters and the zoo (a garage) in order to comply with COVID safety standards.  Hot drinks will be available in and around the ‘Ox Café (the open garage under the tow hut).  And lunch will be served in shifts to maintain social distancing needs.

Masks: We require everyone to wear a mask at all times:  towing in/out, skiing, going to restroom, or socializing with others.

The Lodge:  The Lodge will be closed except for bathroom access only.

Required Equipment

Required Equipment

Downhill skis, ski boots, poles.

Helmets are strongly recommended.

Handwear: The rope tow wears out gloves and mitts quickly, so we recommend wearing leather work gloves over glove liners.  Welding gloves also work well.  Meany also has several styles of leather over-mitt protectors available for sale.   Most people stay plenty warm while skiing.  We recommend bringing a separate pair of warm mitts to wear while you are not skiing.
