Field trip to teach and practice climbing skills to prepare students to confidently lead single and multi-pitch trad climbs. This field trip focuses on leading on bolts.

Vantage - Frenchman Coulee main parking lot 8 am.

Helmet, harness and climbing shoes.

Belay device. Self-braking belay device like Black Diamond ATC Guide or Petzl Reverso

6 straight gate carabiners

2 locking carabiners

Large pear-shaped carabiner

Chock pick (nut tool)

Belay gloves

Ten essentials.  

Water and food.

Clothing for winter weather (e.g. fleece or puffy jacket, rain jacket and full-zip rain pants)

Bring the protection you have, if any. You will have the opportunity to use available equipment to determine which types you want to purchase for yourself.  Primary protection used at Vantage are alpine draws, but there may be an opportunity for climbing trad routes and/or building trad anchors.
