Intermediate Glacier Travel

Intermediate Glacier Travel Module of the Intermediate Climbing Course. The course consists of advanced survival skills like snow cave construction, single-person crevasse rescue and snow anchors for steep snow climbing.

Learn more skills to travel over steep snow and glaciers efficiently and with confidence. 

Prerequisites: Intermediate Alpine Mountaineering I/Self-Rescue I course or equivalent, and AIARE Level I course.

Applicable Standards:

  • ●  Winter mountaineering, including:

    • Winter camping

    • ▪  Application of climbing skills in winter conditions

    • ▪  Emergency winter shelters

 

Course Requirements

This course has no scheduled activities.

Required Equipment

Glacier travel equipment, harness, helmet, crampons, ice axe.

Two pickets required for each student.

2 Ice Screws if you have them.
