Join Mountaineer Cheryl Talbert for this 23rd Walking the Wild event at 7PM on December 2, 2021, featuring another extraordinary adventure on foot across the wilds of the world!
In July of 2019, Cheryl led a group of Mountaineers for 9 days exploring and backpacking around Norway’s spectacular Lofoten Islands and 8 days trekking between well-appointed huts around the famed Jotunheimen circuit in the stark and stunning subalpine of central Norway.
The Lofoten islands are an amazing mix of verdant green and stark peaks and rock cliffs to rival the steepest canyons of Yosemite, mixed in with lovely beaches, blue fjords and lakes, charming villages complete with rorbuers – brick-red fishermen’s cottages converted to lodgings – and racks of drying cod being readied for their international market. The Jotunheimen National Park (aptly named “Land of the Giants”) and well-known circuit trek puts you in the center of an immense and stark landscape of lakes and peaks with trails that range from easy rambling to supremely challenging multi-mile boulder hops.
In this Walking the Wild event you’ll hear the group’s stories and see their photos, and you’ll get lots of useful information to plan your own adventure.
The presentation will begin promptly at 7PM and end at 8:30PM with time for Q&A at the end. The event will be held on zoom. An advance ticket will be required to receive the zoom link to join the presentation. Tickets for this event go on sale at the end of our October 5 Walking the Wild presentation event, at 8PM.
You can get a ticket for free, but we hope that you will purchase a $10 or $20 ticket which will help The Mountaineers continue to deliver its volunteer-led hiking and backpacking programs. We hope you will join us!
