New Hike/Backpack Leader Seminar

This free 2.5 hour evening course is a pre-requisite to become a hike or backpack leader for Seattle or Foothills (Eastside) branch, but also provides valuable information and skills discussion for anyone interested in developing their leadership skills on the trail.

This 2.5 hour evening course provides experienced hikers or backpackers information they need to become an effective hike or backpack leader. This course is a pre-requisite (along with a mentor hike/backpack and committee approval) to becoming an official hike or backpack leader for the club. Also included are club hiking standards and processes, some outdoor leadership insights, valuable resources for further learning, and demo/practice of how to enter hikes and activity reports on the club website. Past and current hike leaders as well as those interested in becoming a new leader are invited to participate. The workshop is free and open to all Mountaineers members, but please signup online so we can anticipate group size.
