Backpacking Building Blocks 2019 Mentor and Leader Orientation

Backpacking Building Blocks 2019 Mentor and Leader Orientation

Come to this important briefing and discussion to get up to speed on updates to the 2019 B3 course, mentor and assistant mentor expectations and assignments to mentor groups, processes to post B3 backpack trips and other activities for students, and general expectations for leaders of backpack trips for the B3 course.
12 ( 30 capacity)

The Backpacking Building Blocks course is moving fast into its 7th year!  Based on feedback from 2018 we have some changes in the lecture format, a new 'practice day' requirement, and plans to implement changes in how the mentor groups are formed to improve engagement, as well as ideas for how to help mentors connect and engage their groups to help them be successful.  We'll also continue to encourage backpack leaders to offer student-only backpacks as well as open trips through the season.  This session will help people with an interest or potential interest in being a mentor, assistant mentor or B3 backpack leader to understand expectations and processes for the course and input to improvement ideas!

The session will be held at the Issaquah Brewhouse, and participants are welcome to arrive early to get dinner and a brew before the session starts at 6:30 (you can also order at any time during the meeting).
