Armchair Global Adventures: Backpack across the Patagonian Andes from Bariloche Argentina to Puerto Montt Chile

Armchair Global Adventures: Backpack across the Patagonian Andes from Bariloche Argentina to Puerto Montt Chile

In late February 2015, Cheryl Talbert led an intrepid group of Mountaineers across the Andes through the rugged peaks of Nahuel Huapi National park, and then on into Chile on the famed Cruce Andeno or Andes Crossing ferry on the huge border lake. In Chile the group hiked high on two volcanoes and explored deep into the Cochamo Valley, Chile's Yosemite. Join us for a photo journey with maps and logistics to help you plan your own adventure! (or decide to come with Cheryl on a repeat of the trip in February 2021!).

In February 2016, Cheryl Talbert and a group of intrepid Mountaineers Adventurers set out with backpacks from Bariloche Argentina, in the heart of the Argentine Lakes District, to trek across the Andes crest through Nahuel Huapi National Park, passing high on Cerro Tronador ("The Thunderer") on the Chilean Border, and then across into Chile on a ferry through the system of lakes that connects the two countries.  The group then day-hiked high on the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes in Chile and then trekked deep into Valle Cochamo, called 'Chile's Yosemite' for its vertical white granite cliffs, enjoying incredible local food and hospitality.  In this presentation Cheryl will share maps, photos and logistics from the trip, which she is also leading in slightly modified form in February of 2021 (We hope!).

Beginning two days before the event we will email the instructions and link to join the zoom call.

To encourage donations to the Mountaineers during this time of extreme financial difficulty, we are providing opportunities for participants in our popular event series to donate as they reserve their spot at the event (you will also continue to have the option to get a free 'ticket' if you don't choose to donate).  If you'd like to offer a donation to help us continue to support our volunteer-led programs and our conservation and youth mission, please go to the link at the button below.  Those who have already RSVPd to the event may also donate by clicking on the button below and choosing one of the donation options.  You do NOT need to click on the button if you RSVP here and do not choose to donate.

i'd like to donate!
