Winter Camping Field Trip - Mazama Ridge (Mount Rainier)

8:30am at the Longmire parking lot. We will get the requisite permit and wait for the gate on the road to Paradise to open.

For this field trip, we will travel with skis.  (Snowshoers, please see our other field trip.)

• Practice skills discussed in the winter camping lecture, including: 
• site selection
• how to set up a winter camp
• cooking food
• gathering water
• ski-specific aspects of winter camping
• building an emergency snow shelter

In addition to our hands-on learning activities, we will engage in a group activity:  skiing in the Paradise area.
