Foothills Winter Camping Field Trip - Haney Meadow Loop, Diamond Head & Windy Knob

SKI-SPECIFIC FIELD TRIP. Practice winter camping skills, try out gear, learn hands-on about how to be safe and comfortable camping in the backcountry in winter conditions... and last but not least, earn some turns!

For this field trip, we will travel with skis.  (Snowshoers, please see our other field trip.)

  • Practice skills discussed in the winter camping lecture, including: 
  • site selection
  • how to set up a winter camp
  • cooking food
  • gathering water
  • ski-specific aspects of winter camping
  • building an emergency snow shelter

In addition to our hands-on learning activities, we will engage in a group activity:  skiing in the Blewett Pass area.
