Grace Lakes field trip...accessed from the upper parking lot at Stevens Pass Ski Resort.  Trail asses by the Mountaineers Lodge.

Meet-up at 7 a.m. at the Brickyard Park & Ride, exit 22, interstate 405 to consolidate cars. 


Expect to be back at the P&R between 4-5 p.m.

This course is designed for those with no or little experience who want to learn basics of snowshoeing. Whether you are new to snow sports, want to have fun in the winter outdoors or yearn to take winter hikes, this is the course to get you started on your winter adventure.  

In this field session you will learn and practice the basics: basic balance, maneuvering on snowshoes, going up hill, side-hill and handling downhills.

The ten essentials, plus:

  • Snowshoes
  • Trekking poles with "winter baskets"
  • Full-height "gaiters"
  • appropriate winter boots

Assistance may be provided on request with rental of snowshoes.
