  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

The lecture will be held at the Eastside Fire and Rescue HQ from 6 - 9 PM. The door is on the left side of the building.

This evening lecture runs from 6 - 9 and will cover digital trip planning including:

  • Route Planning with Peakbagger, GaiaGPS, Mountaineers.org, nwhikers.net and many more
  • Mapping using CalTopo including use of layers, sun exposure, weather, etc.
  • Working with GPS tracks
  • Google Earth

This course is focused on using modern digital tools and workflow to plan a trip with a focus on planning off-trail trips for scramblers and climbers.

- A laptop with the desktop version of Google Earth installed (https://www.google.com/earth/desktop/)

- A mouse with a scroll wheel

- A smartphone with Gaia GPS or other topo map app
