Advanced Scramble Leader Training: Risk Management - Private Residence

A scenarios-based seminar for scramble leaders who want to develop their risk management practices.

  • Moderate

We will meet at 7pm at a private residence in Issaquah where we will either be outside or in a well-ventilated indoor/outdoor space in case of rain.  Participants should be fully vaccinated.

This small group, evening seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss and role play having risk management in scrambling. This activity is aimed at scramblers who are already leaders or scramblers who have been approved for mentored leads.

Before we meet, participants should watch Mountaineers' Leader Tom Unger's presentation on Practical Risk Management, read this article on Managing Risk from the 2019 edition of Accidents in North American Climbing, by Ron Funderburke and Derek Debruin, and read Chapter 4 on Debrief the Day in this manual on using the AIARE Field Book.
