Improve Balance and Lower Body Strength for Cross-country Skiing - Online Classroom

Join Mountaineers Chris Ensor and Valerie Ensor to learn why you need good balance to Cross-country ski and how to improve your balance and strength.

  • Casual

This will be an online course, with Zoom details emailed to participants.  The class will meet from 7-8pm.

You will need access to a computer with a speaker, microphone, and camera, as well as connection to high-speed internet. A smartphone or tablet can also be used to participate. Be sure to download the Zoom app ahead of your first meeting. You do not need to sign up for a (free) account, just have the app on your device. You will be prompted to join the meeting through the Zoom app when you click the meeting link. Note that the “one touch mobile” information connects you only with audio and you will not see any screen sharing. Information about how to log-on to the Zoom meeting will be sent a day or two before the session.

Chris Ensor, a PSIA-certified ski instructor and Mountaineers ski and hike leader, and Valerie Ensor, a Kundalini Yoga Instructor, will show you how to improve your strength and balance for the upcoming ski season.

Chris will demonstrate why we why need to develop good balance and strong legs, ankles and foot muscles in order to both classic and skate ski efficiently and safely.

Then Val will share some exercises to improve your lower body strength and balance as you get you ready for the ski season. To prepare, wear comfortable clothing, be positioned in a room with enough space to move around and have a sturdy chair beside you to begin as she invites you to join her in this interactive session.

This will be followed by a question and answer session.
