Digital Trip Planning and Navigation (Basic GPS) - Eastside Fire & Rescue Headquarters

Learn to plan your trip and navigate using the latest digital tools.

We will promptly start at 6:30PM   in the classroom located on the south side of the building. The course will last to approximately 8:30 - 9:00PM.

The Internet, Smart Phones, and GPS Units have changed the way we plan trips and navigate. This course is aimed to teach both new and experienced navigators how to plan your trip and navigate using the latest digital tools available.

You Will Learn:

  • The importance of trip planning and the tools to create one
  • How to research your trip and make a digital trip plan for you and your group.
  • Digital tools, their advantages and disadvantages.
  • How to plan your trip using social media, websites, facebook, and internet sources.
  • How to use Caltopo and the advanced features it offers to plan your trip and create a map.
  • How to use Gaia GPS to create and import your route, and use it to Navigate.
  • Navigate using Gaia GPS
