Foothills Wilderness Navigation - Instructor Training - Fall 2019

COVID-19: Learn about our most up-to-date guidance for participants and leaders on our COVID-19 Response page. All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before participating in this Mountaineers course.

Key points:

  • Instructors are required to have a Basic Navigation badge.

  • Instructors with an expired Basic Navigation Badge can get it renewed by instructing at one In-Person Workshop and one Field Trip.

  • Instructors are required to have a Basic GSP badge moving forward. However, you can instruct and can gain this badge at the same time by completing the following activities:

    1. Complete the Online GPS for Instructors activity.
    2. Instructing at one Fall 2019 In-Person Workshop.
    3. Instructing at one Fall 2019 Field Trip.

  • We've added an Online GPS for Instructors to the instructor training curriculum at no charge.

  • Since the Raging River site is new to everyone, instructors will be required to attend one 2-hour on-site training session. Here you'll get familiar with the site as well as the Field Trip material. The Raging River site is located about 15-minutes east of Issaquah.
