PILOT

This is the initial offering of this course in a purely digital format. As such, it is offered FREE of charge with the understanding that students aren't just passive recipients of information--active and constructive feedback is vital. I ask that students commit to participating in or watching each session and to offer feedback to improve the experience for the next offering.

Applications will be collected until Feb 19th, after which students selected to participate in the pilot will be given offered status to register.

ONLINE ONLY

This course is delivered as a series of online webinars. You will need access to a desktop computer with high-speed internet. Live participation is encouraged, but  all webinars will be recorded and made available to students in the event they can't make it or simply want to review the material.

Enrollment allows students to participate in as many or as few sessions as they desire depending on what topics are of interest to them and their existing knowledge level.

For the GaiaGPS webinar, you will need a smartphone and the latest version of GaiaGPS for iPhone or Android.

• Digital tools, their advantages and disadvantages.
• How to plan your trip using a variety of internet sources.
• How to use Caltopo and the advanced features it offers to plan your trip and create a map.
• How to use GaiaGPS to create, import and navigate your route.
