A presentation on The Pacific Crest Trail (with Slides) and an overview of the Pacific Crest Trail Series program. The objective of the program is to introduce Mountaineers members to sections of the Pacific Crest Trail that they might not otherwise get to hike on. In particular, the PCT Section from Green Pass to Stampede Pass is significantly under used and in need of conservation efforts. Program participants will have access to a series of day hikes and backpacks throughout the hiking season, starting at the beginning of July. In many cases these will be point to point hikes, or perhaps even a key exchange. In some cases, a back pack may be involved, or an overnight stay at a lodge such as the Mountaineer’s Meany Lodge. Program participants will have first choice on hikes offered. However, all Mountaineers Members and guests will have access to any available slots up to ten days in advance. This will be based upon the needs of the PCT Series program. A non-PCT Series participant can go on up to 2 hikes, or one back pack. Program participants will receive awards based on unique miles hiked on the PCT in Washington State. Participants are eligible for an annual award or a cumulative award. Annual awards are for 50 miles that is hiked on the PCT (not the access trails) and can be duplicated in the same year. Cumulative awards are given in 75 mile increments, up to 525 miles and then 250 mile increments after that and may be earned over one or more years. Only hikes taken on a PCT Series hike are eligible for an award. This explanatory program is designed to give you a better understanding of the Pacific Crest Trail as well as what the PCT Series is all about.
