Field trip: Conditioning for Hiking and Backpacking Level II

Conditioning for Hiking and Backpacking - Outdoor Practice - Saint Edward State Park

In this outdoor practice session we will integrate learned hiking specific exercises from the indoor course with hill intervals. You will be taught proper hiking form and pole technique as well. Performing hill intervals will improve your cardiovascular endurance, helping you feel better for longer on your hikes and treks. You will walk away from this course with an understanding of how to create your own outdoor workouts utilizing the exercises learned in the course as well as hill intervals and more.

The session will begin at 6:30PM and end at 8:15PM.  Directions to our meeting place in Saint Edward State Park will be sent to participants before the session.

For this fun hands-on outdoor session, we will meet at a designated location in Saint Edward State Park for a mix of  interval hill training along with many of the exercises we learned in Level I & II.  The combination of hiking specific exercises with hill intervals will not only help improve strength going up and down hills, but also help improve overall endurance on the trail throughout a hike or trek. Training in the outdoors on typical trail surfaces  is one of the best ways to prepare for the trails.
