Backpacking Building Blocks Student-Only Backpack - North Fork Sauk River
This field trip will give B3 students the opportunity to try out gear and new skills on an easy overnight backpack with an experienced mentor. Preference for members of Amae and Brian's mentor group and will open to others if there is room.

The pace will be relaxed and easy, averaging 1.5 mph with very gradual elevation gain.
This trip is on the Mountain Loop Highway closer to the Darrington side.
The first day will be a relaxed day, hiking from the Trailhead to Mackinaw Shelter, 5.25 miles and 1,000 feet of gradual elevation gain along a forested river. Day 2 will be an optional challenging day hike to Red Pass, 9 miles and 3900 feet of elevation. On Day 3, we will hike 5.5 miles back out to the trailhead.
This trip will help fulfill the requirement of a 2-night backpacking trip.
