This is a relaxed, beginner’s backpacking trip to allow students to try out their gear and apply the skills they've learned in the B3 course.  We will be strolling mostly through the woods with a gradual gain in elevation over the length of the hike.  It is still a little early so expect it to be pretty muddy.  This is a highly trafficked trail so we will be sharing it with several other day hikers.

We will be going at a slow to moderate pace (around 1.5 mph) so we can work on conditioning and make stops as needed to adjust gear.  There are limited campsites around Goat Lake so we will do our best to find a good space for everyone to set up.
