Backpacking Building Blocks Student-Only Backpack - Frenchman Coulee Waterfall

Test out your gear among the towering basalt cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge! Porcupines? Check. Giant sand dunes? Check. Big ol’ basalt pillars? Check. Waterfalls? Double-check. This field trip will give B3 students the opportunity to try out gear and new skills on an easy overnight backpack with an experienced mentor.

Frenchman Coulee lower parking lot, 9:00AM

This is a choose your own adventure trip in wide-open countryside, we can go and camp anywhere. We will explore Frenchman Coulee and then walk the rim of Echo Basin before settling down for the night.

Water in this area may contain farm runoff which cannot be removed by normal filters (although I will bring a special filter which can). Plan on stashing extra water in your car (which will be just minutes away) to avoid having to carry it all with you.
