Backpacking Building Blocks Student-Only Backpack

Field trip: Backpacking Building Blocks (B3) Course

Backpacking Building Blocks Student-Only Backpack - Enchanted Valley

This field trip will give B3 students the opportunity to try out gear and new skills on an easy overnight backpack with an experienced mentor. It includes a beautiful walk along the East Fork Quinault River Trail where you can enjoy a forest of large trees and possible wild animal siting. It is a 26 miles round trip with 1700 ft elevation gain. We will camp along the way the first night and end in the lovely valley and camp there in view of the famous Enchanted Valley Chalet. The third day is a long walk back to the trail head which will be 13 miles.

It is a long drive (5+ hours) to Olympic National Park so we will work on carpooling. Hoping for good weather but be prepared for wetness. We will consider leaving Seattle on Thursday night and camping close by to get an early start on Friday morning. We will need a bear canisters and can probably share a few depending on the participants number. More information to come.
