At 2.7 miles is the sign and lefthand turn for Elkhorn Campground. About a dozen sites are widely spaced throughout the forest, and most of them are along the river. Each site has adequate room for tents, a picnic table, and a fire pit. Elk are occasionally seen grazing the nearby understory. Owls add their somber call to the roar of the rushing river in the nighttime canyon.
