Backpacking Building Blocks Student-Only Backpack

Field trip: Backpacking Building Blocks (B3) Course

Backpacking Building Blocks Student-Only Backpack - Ancient Lake

Ancient Lake is an easy, 5 mile round trip desert hike with minimal elevation gain in eastern Washington. You'll hike through desert, past basalt walls, and around the lakes, at the end of which is a waterfall, enjoying wildflowers and interesting geology just to the east of the Columbia River near Vantage. This field trip will give B3 students the opportunity to try out gear and new skills on an easy overnight backpack with an experienced mentor.

Issaquah Park and Ride, Saturday at 8AM

This is one of the easiest backpacking trips anywhere in Washington State. However, the local water supply is suspect, so we’ll bring in our water – at least 4 liters each.

Optionally, we’ll explore the local hills, which are quite fun with interesting views in many directions. The drive to/from the trailhead is long (about 3 hours each way).
