Meet at the South Climbing Wall at 5:50 p.m., gear up, we'll chat very briefly, then go from 6-9 p.m. and give you three hours of belaying and climbing to your heart's content. Instructors will be there to guide and answer questions. Students, come and get your belay on and do a ton of reps.
Expectations: This is a chance to practice your top-rope belay skills and to work with as many partners as possible. We'll practice top-rope with device dominant hand, then non-dominant, and we'll belay with a munter hitch if you're comfortable. We'll might do more advanced things like lead belay and climbing at the end if it's safe and appropriate - emphasis is really on getting in top-rope reps. Instructors will supervise everything for safety but generally stay out of your way.
Gear: climbing harness, rack, ATC, helmet, rock shoes, and mountaineering boots (if you want to practice in those), etc. No helmet = no climbing.
Bring some warm clothes in case it's chilly. No rain expected, but prepare anyway.
HEADLAMPS and FACE COVERINGS REQUIRED.
