Field trip: Introduction to Trail Running Racing

Introduction to Trail Running Racing - Wenatchee Foothills Trails

Longest run leading up to your 25km race!

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 14.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,000 ft
  • Pace: 13 - 15 min/mile

Sage Hills should have wildflowers in full bloom - fields blanketed with yellow balsam root and purple lupine. The views and terrain are beautiful!

This is the longest and most difficult run in our 25km training program - be prepared to push yourself. We will run the flats and downhills, run some of the up hills, and hike the steeper up hills.

The terrain is rocky, with loose rocks in places. It's exposed - limited to no tree cover or shade. This area is on the east side of the mountains and is typically more summer-like than our westside runs. Sun protection and plenty of water are important.

It's critical that you have been building your distance week over week - you should have done 11-12miles within 4 weeks of this run.  The pace will be set that we all run together as a group and everyone has a great time, but I will challenge the pace and push us a bit to simulate a race, more so than our typical casual long runs.

There is very limited parking at the trailhead, so carpooling is encouraged.
