The Basic Snowshoeing Course offers an introduction to safe and enjoyable winter travel for the beginner. It is designed for people who want to get a taste of snowshoeing and pick up solid foundational skills. Topics of instruction will include selection and use of proper equipment, conditioning, what to rent, where to go, how to plan and evaluate snowshoe routes to avoid avalanche risk, winter travel, safety, and choosing an outing. Students will be eligible to participate in basic snowshoe tours with the confidence of having a foundation in winter travel.

The class is at the Evergreen Middle School, 7621 Beverly Ln. Everett, WA  98203. The lectures are Wednesday January 14 and Wednesday January 21, and the field trip is Saturday January 30.

The second lecture is a joint lecture with the Everett Nordic (CrossCounty) Ski Course.  The Ski and Snowshoe Courses are non-interfering – which means you can take both courses. Plus there is a $20.00 discount if you do! Signing up for the Winter Travel class signs you up for both classes and gives you the discount. Plus you'll be fully prepared for all forms of winter travel.

Come join us for an enjoyable winter experience!

Course completion requires attendance of both lectures and the field trip: only those who attend both lectures are eligible for the field trip.

Field Trip: The field trip is held near Stevens Pass. Meet at MonroePark n Ride at 7:30am on Saturday, Jan. 30th to carpool up to the pass. Field trip will finish about 4pm, returning to Monroe around 5:30pm.
