In this seminar we will learn how to select an appropriate route location, where to place the bolts, and how to place the bolts. We will do this by bolting a new route.

In this seminar we will learn how to select an appropriate route location, where to place the bolts, and how to place the bolts.  We will do this by bolting a new route.

We will do this by scouting the area for potential routes.

Cleaning any hazardous loose materials from the potential route

Climbing the route on top rope to to assess the suitability of the route and to select the bolt locations.

 Drilling and bolting the route.

Then do any further route cleaning.

This is a hazardous activity.  Injuries may occur from rock fall or other hazards.  Use caution whenever engaged in this activity.  Utilize safety gear whenever you feel it is needed or as required by the clinic leader.  It is up to you to look after your own safety and to point out safety risks to others.

Sport climbing equipment to include a wire brush and whisk broom if you have them. Safety gear is required.  This includes helmets, safety glasses, dust masks, gloves etc.

Required: one activity scheduled, all must attend
