Second field trip for the course. Instructors must have completed Sport or Basic Climbing Course.

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

8:00 AM TH Parking Lot.  Must have Discover Pass.   Session runs from 8:00AM to 2:00PM. 

Warm-ups at Gritscone; one lap at Easy Street; then the rest of the time at Interstate Park (Headlight Pt, Eastern Block; & Squishy Bell).  Come for an hour, stay for the course, or go all day on your own.  Safety, fellowship, and fun.

The approaches to the climbing areas are short but some get sun all day. Bring plenty of water and enough food to get through the day. Bring the 10 essentials including your first aid kit.

Required: Harness, PA, helmet, quickdraws (6-10), locking biners (3-4), non-locking biners (at least 2), some form of anchor building material (cordellete, sewn runners, etc), belay device, rock shoes, 10 essentials. 

Optional:  Your own rope if you already own one, chalk.
