Field trip: Intermediate Leading On Rock

Leading on Rock 1, Everett Intermediate Climbing Course - Leavenworth

At LOR 1 we practice building gear anchors in preparation to hanging belays and climb a variety of trad routes. This trip is only for those signed up as students and the instructors. We will be at Roto Wall.

  • Crag Rock Climb
  • Challenging

Camp at 8 mile campground in Icicle Creek.  We will meet at the camp ground then go to Roto Wall for the class.

At Leading On Rock 1 (LOR1) the students will practice building trad gear belay anchors in preparation to hanging belays.  This will prepare the students to climb multi pitch routes where hanging belays will be needed. The students will be instructed to build different types of belay anchors.  The students will then practice these skills while climbing single pitch routes.

Students will be given the chance to do true trad leads after they have led the same route with a top rope belay.  The routes chosen will be moderate routes. This will allow the student to focus on solid gear placement.

The emphasis of this class is learning to rock climb as safely as possible in near vertical rock or vertical rock terrain.
