Active Bystander Leadership Training - Bellingham YMCA

Active bystander training on prevention and disruption of sexual assault and sexual harassment in the climbing community presented by The Bellingham Branch & King County Sexual Assault Resource Center.

The Bellingham Mountaineers has coordinated with the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center to offer an active bystander training on prevention and disruption of sexual assault and sexual harassment in the climbing community. 

Who: volunteers, instructors, trip leaders, climb leaders
WhenTuesday, February 11, 2025, from 6-8pm
Where: YMCA 4th Floor Conference Room

The goals of this training are to:

  1. Understand violence and harassment and why it matters for outdoor activities
  2. Recognize bias and escalation of behavior
  3. Respond with active bystander techniques
  4. Minimize violence and harassment by promoting leadership qualities
