Wilderness First Aid

For Bellingham Intermediate Climbing students who need to recertify in wilderness first aid.

1To do before class -

  • Go to https://www.wildmed.com/wilderness-medicine-search-rescue-training-event-materials/ to access required pre-course materials
  • Use the course number (28286) in both course ID and password fields to login
  • Review the "Course Participation Standards" and "Functional Position Description"
  • PRINT, SIGN AND BRING WITH YOU TO CLASS THE "INDEMNITY AGREEMENT"
  • You do not need to do a pre-test or complete any other tasks on the WMA website

2.  When -

  • Saturday, February 10 and Sunday, February 11
  • 7:45 am - 6:00 pm both days

3.  Where -

  • The Firs, Noble Hall on the southeast corner of Cable St and Geneva St in Bellingham, WA
  • Directions: take Lakeway Dr toward Lake Whatcom, at Electric Ave stay right and Lakeway Dr becomes Cable St, come to the crest of a hill and look for a fire station on the right, after the fire station turn right onto Geneva St (if you reach a crosswalk on Cable St and pass The Firs offices on your left you have gone too far), park in the parking lot on your right off of Geneva St which is next to the fire station, walk across Geneva St to Noble Hall

Required Equipment

1.  Clothing -

  • Wear what you would wear to go on a day hike that day, and dress in layers so that you will be comfortable both indoors and outdoors
  • Don't wear nice clothing and gear though - it is possible that clothing could become dirty, stained or torn so wear clothing that you don't mind getting messed up
  • You may bring extra dry and comfortable clothing for the classroom sessions inside if it is raining and your clothing may get wet during practice sessions outside

2.  Gear -

  • Bring a pack of what you would carry on a day hike that day

3.  Lunch -

  • Bring lunch and snacks to eat on site, there will not be time to leave for lunch
  • Bring a water bottle, extra water will be available - coffee will also be available in the classroom, so bring a coffee mug with a lid if you would like
