Get Ready to #GiveBIG On May 4 & 5

To cope with the challenges of the last year, more and more people are seeking refuge in the outdoors. Access to green spaces and wild places have played a critical role in supporting the physical and emotional wellbeing of our communities during this stressful time. At The Mountaineers, it is our mission to provide educational and experiential opportunities so that youth and adults of all ages can benefit from the transformative power of spending time in nature.

And the first step is getting people outside.

On May 4 and 5, The Mountaineers will rally together with individuals and organizations across the Pacific Northwest to invest in our community through a statewide fundraising campaign known as #GiveBIG. The purpose of #GiveBIG is to ignite a culture of philanthropy that reminds us that when we give back to the communities that support us, we take a proactive step towards creating the society we want to live in.

Each spring, The Mountaineers utilizes the momentum from #GiveBIG to kick-off a spring fundraising campaign that takes place throughout the month of May. This year, we’d like to ask for your support to help us reach our fundraising goal of $30,000 in charitable contributions through gift renewals, small gifts, and first-time donations. No gift is too small - it all adds up to big change.

How can I participate in the campaign?

  • Save the date for Tue, May 4 and Wed, May 5 for a two day celebration of #GiveBIG.
  • Tell a friend about #GiveBiG, ask if there are any nonprofits they are passionate about, and start a conversation about your shared values.
  • Do you have a life-changing story about your experience with The Mountaineers and want to share it with the rest of our community? Reach out to briv@mountaineers.org or call 206-521-6006.
  • After determining the amount you wish to donate to The Mountaineers (or any other nonprofit you care deeply about), consider creating your own “peer-to-peer” fundraising page. We can help!
  • Stay tuned for more information about early giving options, announcements about a 1:1 match, and other FUNdraising incentives along the way.

Donations received via #GiveBIG will support The Mountaineers Annual Fund, which allows us to invest in the highest priorities of our organization and ensure financial sustainability for all program areas no matter the economic landscape.

Early giving will begin on the Washington Gives Platform on April 20, but if you’re ready to make your 2021 #GiveBIG donation today, we’ve set up a page just for you:

  • Offers need-based scholarships across all programs in all seven branches so that no one is left behind when considering their outdoor dreams.
