Warm and sunny trip up Ingalls S Ridge.
Great route in a beautiful location, but more crowded than the Tooth.
John Fang and I climbed this sport route on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The climbing is very fun and the approach unpleasant especially the last section is full of scree. This route, like all others have reported, has a high level of rock fall from upper pitches. We did not do the last pitch of scramble partly due to rock fall concerns. All picture credits go to John.
A beautiful climb of Clark Mountain via the Walrus glacier. We skipped Luahna to keep it Type 1 Fun!
Beautiful area with good camping around Rock Lake. Lots of traversing on stable boulders ending with a fun class 4 scramble to the summit with stunning views.
What a beautiful day to be on the water dodging boats and porpoises!
Building skills with team work and tapping into our strengths was essential during this trip when we encountered water challenges, hot, steep terrain, biting insects and high places. The pay-off was panoramic views and feeling safe both emotionally and physically which was paramount to our success and friendship.
Flow was in the range of 750-780 CFS while we were on the water. This was a relaxed level. Floated campground to green bridge in 1.5 hrs. Then did a rerun of the canyon from campground to Glacier take out in 45 minutes.
The trip was planned as a rock (and brush!) scramble to Mt. Hoquiam. Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 cars on the trip had flat tires about 10 miles from the start. Since the road does continue to deteriorate we elected to not proceed on the "donut" spares and cancelled the trip. Two people in the third card however did continue with the planned route.
Incredible scenery and swimming (for the cold tolerant). :-) Incredibly buggy and smoke from distant fires rolled in.
Bridge to Bridge paddle from La Conner to Bowman Bay via Canoe Pass on the Slack Before Flood.
A trip to Echo Lake on an overcast day was peaceful and had an unexpected delight as two river otters put on a show in Upper Greenwater Lake.
We ended up doing Cat Peak instead of Carrie after one of our leaders wasn't feeling well. Cat Peak was awesome. Swimming Bear was super buggy - may be the last time we stay there in summer!
Fun and relaxing trip through the forest and into the valley with great views and interesting braiding between the white glacier-fed Middle Fork and the green water of the Clear Fork.
A late July trip to Dragontail Peak via Colchuck Col.
4 day backpack on the Devil's Dome / Jackita Ridge loop in the Pasayten Wilderness. Challenging terrain, ferocious mosquitos, and scarce water. Breathtaking views and brilliant flowers in every direction. 360° sunsets. Worth every ounce of suffering.
We enjoyed this lesser-traveled route's straightforward navigation, plentiful wildflowers, and fun T3 rock scrambling, although the rock quality is questionable in places
This was a full-value 1-day car-to-car glacier climbing experience with an all-star team!
