West Tiger Mountain No. 3 Cable Line
Strenuous hike with 2,000 feet of elevation gain. Short and steep trail with no switchbacks. Nobody has ever said this route is pretty.
getting there
Just east of Issaquah take I-90, Exit 20, then turn south and then take an immediate right onto SE 79th Street and head west parallel to I-90. Park along this road outside of the gate, just as the road turns to gravel (490 ft).
on the trail
A couple hundred feet east of the gate is an orange stake/pole and a couple large boulders signaling the start of the trail. The route has no switchbacks and the trail just goes up with only a couple short flat areas.
When you encounter intersections with other trails just always choose the steepest option to stay on route. Also near each of the trail intersections are small white signs saying you're off-trail and accidentally got onto the Cable Line, just follow those signs.
NOTES
- A Discover Pass might not be needed since you're parking outside of the gate, but it's probably a good idea to still have one.
- When wet, the Cable Line trail gets very muddy and slick.
- The gate is locked from dusk to dawn.
