Silver Falls State Park

An Oregon state park with more than 35 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The most famous trail is the Trail of Ten Falls, a National Recreation Trail that features ten waterfalls. Although some of the park's trails welcome leashed dogs, the Trail of Ten Falls is mostly closed to dogs.

Getting There

South Falls Lodge Trailhead

Drive OR-214 southeast from Silverton 16.2 miles into Silver Falls State Park. Pass the parking area for North Falls Trailhead and continue to entrance to the South Falls Trailhead. Turn right and drive 0.2 miles to the toll booth, then left at the junction just after the toll booth and continue to the main parking area.

North Falls Trailhead

Drive OR-214 southeast from Silverton 16.2 miles into Silver Falls State Park and turn tight into the North Falls Trailhead parking area.

Winter Falls Trailhead

Drive OR-214 southeast from Silverton 16.2 miles into Silver Falls State Park. Pass the parking area for the North Falls Trailhead and continue to the pull out on the right for the Winter Falls Trailhead.

PARK AMENITIES

  • A campground with tent camping, group tent campsites, cabins (seven are dog-friendly), and RV campsites.
  • An equestrian campground with five primitive campsites with horse stalls and a group site for up to 24 people and 12 horses.
  •  Showers, barbecue stands, picnic shelters, a bike path, tables, a playground, horseshoe pits, an off-leash area for dogs, and more than 35 miles of hiking trails.
  • The  Historic South Falls Lodge & Cafe offers food, snacks, and beverages.
  • The  Friends of Silver Falls Nature Store sells memorabilia and local artisan crafts.

Trail of Ten Falls

up to 9 miles round trip, up to 800 feet of elevation gain, Maximum high point of 1,600 ft

There are three trailheads leading into the canyon where a 100-foot waterfall starts. The descent into the pristine canyon begins within a canopy of towering Douglas firs, then it meanders down to an undergrowth of ferns into the heart of the canyon where it meets the winding creek. Whether you are up for the full nine-mile hike or a shorter journey, the canyon trail is an enjoyable and beautiful hike as you as explore from one falls to the next.
