Tonga Ridge (winter)

Tonga Ridge is an easy, 7 mile round trip snowshoe hike with 1,400 ft in elevation gain. The hike goes through second growth forest and meadows before passing under Mount Sawyer to Stevens pass.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Drive east on U.S. Highway 2 toward Stevens Pass. After passing the Skykomish Ranger Station on the left, continue another 0.5 mile and turn right (south) onto Foss River Road (Forest Road 68). Follow this road 3 miles to the junction with Forest Road 6830, and turn left (east) onto Forest Road 6830. Climb 3.3 miles up this road to the top of the ridge and a junction with a small spur road, FR 310. Turn right onto FR 310, and continue to the snow line or the end of the road (1.5 miles) at 4400 feet.
