Pacific Crest Trail: Cady Ridge to Red Pass

This strenuous loop backpack of 20.6 mi and 3,200 ft elevation gain follows the Pacific Crest Trail along a view-filled ridge to basecamp opportunities for further wandering across the fabulous wildflower meadows on the west flank of Glacier Peak to a viewpoint down the White Chuck River valley to Glacier Peak.

Start at the Little Wenatchee trailhead and climb Cady Ridge on Trail No. 1532 to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) at Lake Sally Ann (6.5 mi) and then on to camps below Kodak Peak at 8.8 miles. 

From here, hike 17 mi out and back to Red Pass with light packs traversing some of the most beautiful flower-strewn meadows in the state, on the west flank of Glacier Peak. From Red Pass the view is stunning down the White Chuck River valley with Glacier Peak to the northeast. 

From camp return the way you came (17.6 mile total loop with packs)


  • A side climb up Kodak is a must-do for amazing views of Glacier Peak and the surrounding country.
  • For variety, return to the Little Wenatchee trailhead by continuing south on the PCT to Cady Pass and then down the Cady Creek Trail, Trail No. 1501.
