Hamilton Mountain/Beacon Rock

A moderate 11 mile hike with 2550 ft in elevation gain. The trail passes by two waterfalls with views of Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge. Beacon Rock is a sheer rock column that towers over the Columbia River.

The Hamilton Mountain trail is steep and rocky. There are two pretty waterfalls (Hardy and Rodney Falls) on the trail that lead to the summit.

Beacon Rock is an 848 foot basalt column that formed the core of an ancient volcano. It rises over the Columbia River.  The trail cuts along the southern face of the steep rock.
