Crescent Mountain

A long, moderate scramble with high ridges, meadows, big views of Mount Rainier and even a bike ride.

getting there

From Enumclaw drive SR 410 to Buckley and then SR 165 to its end traveling through Wilkeson and Carbonado. Follow the signs to the Carbon River Ranger Station.

approach & ascent

Hike or bike Carbon River Road to Ipsut Creek Campground and then hike the Northern Loop Trail to Windy Gap. From there head due south, climbing steep open slopes to the broad ridge top. Travel west along the top of the ridge until you reach the 6,703-foot high point.


  • Mountain or Hybrid bikes are recommended for the easy 6-mile round trip to and from Ipsut Creek Campground.
