Concord Tower/North Face

A Grade II, 5.6 rock climb in the Liberty Bell complex near Washington Pass in the North Cascades.

GETTING THERE

Drive SR-20 to the Blue Lakes Trailhead (5,200 ft), 1.5 miles west of Washington Pass.

APPROACH & Climbing Route

Follow the Blue Lake Trail about 1.5 miles to a small meadow. Locate the climbers path left, just after a small stream. Follow path up through slabs, talus and meadow to below the gully descending from between Liberty Bell and Concord Tower. The route begins at the top of the notch between Concord Tower and Liberty Bell.

Descent

Descend the climbing route.

If descending the South Face of Concord Tower for a Lexington Tower "link up" use a 60m rope and have it aligned at the middle marker since the first rappel is a full 30 m rappel.

Notes

  • The climber's trail up the gully is usually snow filled and can be icy until late June.
  • Rockfall is high after snow melt.
