Chiwaukum Creek (winter)
A moderate-level snowshoe trip up the Chiwaukum Creek valley, located 10 miles west of Leavenworth. Travel 10 miles round-trip through pine forest while listening to the burbling creek.
getting there
Turn on to Chiwaukum Creek Road (Forest Road 7908) off of SR 2, about one mile west of the Tumwater Campground. Road-end and parking varys depending on the snow level.
route
Start by heading west up the Chiwaukum Creek valley, a hiking trial in summer. This is a very pleasant trip with a gentle, steady elevation gain. Turnaround in about 5 miles in, where the trail splits at the confluence with the Chiwaukum Creek South Fork. For those wanting more adventure other trails continue on from here.
