Totten Inlet

The western most inlet of the South Sound Inlets in Puget Sound. It is nine nautical miles long with extensive tidelands at the south end, which makes it an interesting place to sea kayak.  Like Eld Inlet, Totten Inlet has an extensive shellfish aquaculture along its tidelands.  Like most north/south-oriented inlets, strong south to southwest winds can result in growing wave heights.

launch Points

  • With careful evaluation of tide heights, access can be from a small interpretive parking area on the southwest tip of the inlet on Oyster Bay.
  • The north end is easily reached from Arcadia.
  • Little Skookum Inlet half way down the western shore is a great place to visit with a high tide.
