Totten is the westernmost of the South Sound Inlets.  9 nm. in length, with extensive tidelands at the south end, it is an interesting place to paddle.  With careful evaluation of tide heights, access can be had from a small interpretive parking area on the southwest tip of the inlet on Oyster Bay.  The north end is easily reached from Arcadia.  Little Skookum Inlet half way down the western shore is a great place to visit with a high tide.  Totten, like Eld Inlet has extensive shellfish aquaculture along its tidelands.   Like most north/south inlets, strong south to southwest winds can result in growing wave heights.
