Cross-country Skiing & Snowshoeing
A gently climbing 10 mile ski or snowshoe tour on a groomed forest road. Side trip options provide access to the North Fork of the Tieton River. The end of the groomed trail connects to the summer trail to Tieton Meadows.

North Gardner Mountain via the Northwest Route is an easy (class 2) climb.

The North Kitsap Community Pool in Poulsbo is a great place to practice kayak rolls and re-entries.
Day Hiking & Trail Running
Enjoy year-round hiking or trail running on up to 6 miles of trails with minimal elevation gain in a county park on the Kitsap Peninsula.
Day Hiking, Scrambling & Snowshoeing
In summer, the lookout is a short walk from the gated North Mountain Road our of Darrington in the North Cascades. From just out of town, there is a mountain bike trail network around the flanks of North Mountain. In winter, snowshoe trips and winter scrambles are possible.
Urban Adventure
Tour the facility and learn about disposal of things we can't put in the regular household trash. Enjoy a walk along the nearby Interurban Trail before or after your tour.
Climbing
Climb 5,000+ feet of elevation gain along a difficult ridge. The route crosses Collier Glacier before attaining the south ridge. This is the most difficult of Oregon's Three Sisters.

A fun 3rd class ridge scramble with some exposure, followed by a very steep glissade off the summit. Spectacular views of Mount Baker and Puget Sound. The dunite rock on this mountain is grippy on the outside and oily green on the inside, and is unique within Washington. Most parties use mountain bikes to reach the trailhead. Times: 6-7 hr trailhead to summit, 4-5 hr summit to trailhead.

Explore one of Seattle's lesser explored parks located between N 130th St and I-5. The 20-acre park has a fir forest, an easy flat mile of trails, a picnic area, children's play area, ball fields, and an off-leash area. There good opportunities for photographing an urban forest environment.

Sea Kayaking
Sea kayak on the east side of Toandos Peninsula north of Misery Point and across from the Bangor Naval Base. Launch from Misery Point, Kitsap Memorial State Park, Salisbury County Park and Hicks County Park.
Backpacking
A strenuous backpack of 37 miles and 11,500 feet of gain. Enjoy stunning views of Mount Rainier National Park. For those who need more adventure, there are a few good side trips. Challenging one-day adventures include Grand Park & Lake Eleanor and Mystic Lake.
Climbing
Rock climb at crags near Santa Fe, New Mexico. The crags have many routes ranging from basaltic, conglomerates to granitic formations. Many are located along the Rio Grande River Canyon, in White Rock Canyon, and at the foothills of the Jemez Mountains.

The Northwest Timber Trail is an easy gateway to less frequented routes on the south and east side of the busy Tiger Mountain trail system leading to more distant goals, such as the Silent Swamp Loop or the Preston Railroad Grade, as well as to forest roads that lead to the summit of East Tiger.

The park is an easy drive from Tacoma and Seattle. It’s open year-round, with each season offering something new to experience. A narrated tram tour of the free-roaming area allows you to see bison, Roosevelt elk, moose, mountain goats and other native animals, up close in their natural habitats. A self-guided walking tour along the paved trails in the core of the park provides the opportunity to see grizzly bears, wolves and more in naturalistic exhibits.
