MEETING PLACE:
Meet at the Brickyard Park and Ride in Kirkland at 6:30 AM. The Park and ride is just west of I-405 at Exit 22 about a mile south of SR-522. Call me on my cell phone at 425-442-6411 if you are running late and want us to wait for you.
GEAR:
- Ice Axe is always required.
- Snowshoes with agressive points on the bottom such as MSR are required.
- Crampons are NOT required for this trip.
- Avalanche Becon is optional but is highly recommended.
- Avalanche shovel and/or probe are optional, but we must have 4 of each for the group.
- No parking pass is needed at the trailhead
ROUTE:
The route starts at 3200 feet and follows Smithbrook road (along Smithbrook Creek) to the second right-turn switchback at 4000 feet. See the map and the route from there is obvious. Jove is about a mile out and back from the Summit of Union, so if the weather is nasty, we might blow it off.
