7:15 AM at Sultan P&R
Updated leader notes: Gear - standard winter scramble items. Given the recent snow, we think snowshoes will be most useful, but recommend crampons as well for possible windblown, hardpack slopes. If your snowshoes do not have good/aggressive traction, crampons will be more important. If you have them, please bring Avalanche beacons, shovels and probes. We will sort out this gear at the trailhead. New meeting time is 7:15 at the Sultan P&R.; For Jim Hill, the route starts at the Stevens Pass Nordic Center (unsure whether sno-park pass required; exit Route 2 at 5.8 miles E of Stevens Pass), and ascends Lanham Creek to the Lake, then east up the slopes to the ridge and to the summit. We also have route information for an approach via the drainage immediately to the east, acessed by a logging road. ------------ Good views of the Chiwakums and Wenatchee mountains (weather be willing). Crampons recommended in addition to standard winter scramble gear. Bring shovels & probes (if you have them) to the P&R; we'll sort out who gets to carry them there. This trip is co-led with Frank Miles. More information to come...
