6:45 AM at Lookout Mtn TH
With 11 ~ 12 miles and 5,500ft of elevation gain, this trip will provide plenty of cardio and the potential for excellent views of the North Cascades. Because the days are about as short as they can be, we should plan on an early start, arriving at Lookout Mtn TH on the Cascade River Rd (about 7 miles beyond Marblemount) before 7am with a plan to be walking shortly after 7am. We will start at the Lookout Mtn TH (1,200 ft elevation) on the Big Devil Peak USGS quad. The plan is to ascend the trail to 3,600 ft elevation, where the trail traverses west and up to 4,000 ft elevation. At that point we’ll depart the trail and will head just west of due north up a ridge line to 4,800 ft, where we’ll connect with the SW spur of T-Bone ridge which runs east-north-east to a Pt 6,708.
