Stegosaurus Butte

Winter Scramble - Stegosaurus Butte

A lovely, half-day scramble on a sort-of holiday. If the weather is nice, we will get some great views.

Sunrise is just before 8 am.  We will meet at the Middle Fork trailhead parking lot at 8:30, allowing an "early enough" start, while letting participants do the drive between North Bend and the meeting area in daylight.

From Seattle, drive east on I-90 to exit 34 (Edgewick Road). Turn left (north) onto 468th Avenue and follow it to the junction with the Middle Fork Road (Forest Road 56). Turn right and continue up the Middle Fork Road for 11.8 miles to the Middle Fork trailhead parking area on the right.

There is a bathroom at the trailhead; alas, it will be closed for the winter.

This is a short, sweet, and steep scramble.  If the weather is clear, we will get some nice views.  Due to the steepness of the trail on the way down, especially if the path is icy, participants will need to be prepared to use trees for veg belays.
