Let's hope the third time is a charm. This trip has been cancelled twice in the past two weeks due to higher than anticipated avalanche dangers. I really want to climb Spark Plug while the snow is still covering the Devils Club in the lowlands. The proposed route is to follow the Surprise Lake trail to 3400 feet, then follow the Spark Plug Lake drainage to Little and Big Spark Plug Lakes, and from there, the summit. Because this is a fairly strenuous trip with some steep snow, it is not open to students.
