7:00 AM at Annette Lake TH
This trip is 7 miles and 3,700ft elevation gain with potential views of Mt. Katherine, Humpback, Mt. Margaret, Kendall Pks, and several other of the I-90 corridor neighbors. On a clear day the views are expansive! Let’s plan on an arriving near the Annette Lake TH at 7am with a plan to be walking shortly after 7:30am. Google maps indicates about 55 miles and 55 minutes drive time from the 65th P&R; so those interested in carpooling should plan on meeting at 6:30AM. We’ll take exit 47 off of I-90 and will make an immediate right from the offramp and then a left on Asahel Curtis Rd which becomes NF 5590, and in ¼ mile the Anette Lake TH will be on the right. This is a winter scramble so please bring: • ice axe & helmet • mountaineering snow shoes with aggressive teeth • crampons (it will be icy on the ridge line) • one shovel & probe per four people (bring avalanche beacons if you have them, but don’t go out and rent) • 10 essentials for winter travel (plenty of layers). • There’s always a chance we’ll be walking out in near darkness, so make certain you have a functioning headlamp with fresh batteries and spares. Group gear we’ll distribute at the TH includes: • Rope • Stove • Shovels / probes • Sleeping bag, bivvy, and insulation layer (I’ll carry these) Please call or email with questions.
