ROUTE:
We start at the Rock Mountain TH on Highway 2, which is 8.5 miles past the Summit. There is a parking area just past the trail head. We will follow the trail and/or snowy ridge up to the lake basin. If weather and conditions permit, we will first climb the NE peak/ridge, then go west to the main summit then down the route which follows the summer trail. DIFFICULTY:
The total gain is about 4200’, The distance is not all very far, but the route is steep. Probably similar to climbing straight up Mt Si without a trail.
AVALANCHE BACKUP:
If the weather and/or avalanche conditions are really nasty, we might go a bit further east to Merrit Lake and Alpine Lookout. We will make this decision Saturday morning. See: www.nwac.us/products/SABSEA GEAR:
